1. Visit Wat Pho To See The Reclining Buddha
The top thing to do in Bangkok is to see the reclining Buddha. The Buddha at Wat Pho is lying down and a very impressive 46 meters long and gold. The surrounding Wat Pho complex is stunning too. There are lots of separate buildings and stupas, all with those typical colorful Thai decorations. You can spend several hours exploring the temple. 2. Visit the Grand Palace
Another big tourist attraction in Bangkok is the Grand Palace. Although the Royal Family no longer lives there, it is still an important ceremonial building. The Palace is a collection of different buildings to explore, including Wat Phra Kaew. This temple houses the famous Emerald Buddha statue.
The Grand Palace gets very crowded, so make sure that you get there early in the day to avoid the long lines. A strict dress code applies. You are not allowed to have bare feet (including sandals or flip-flops) and no bare knees or shoulders, this goes for both men and women.

If you are looking for things to do in Bangkok on Sunday, go shopping at Chatuchak market. It is a huge complex with more than 8000 stalls. If you can’t find it here, it doesn’t exist.

One of the most popular things to do in Bangkok is to drink at a rooftop bar. There are several throughout the city where you can enjoy a drink and a stunning view of the city. Most rooftop bars require cocktail or smart casual attire, no shorts, and sandal wearing tourists allowed.
5. Eat Street Food
Of course, you cannot leave Bangkok without eating street food. Street food is prevalent in Thailand and Bangkok in particular. Street food vendors sell anything from fresh fruit to drink and little snacks to full meals. This kind of food is convenient, quick, and cheap. There are great street food vendors all around the city, but the very best in Jay Fai. She is the owner of Jay Fai restaurant, which received a Michelin Star in 2018. The restaurant is incredibly popular and has been famous since 1999. If you want a change from Thai food, you can get amazing Chinese street food in Chinatown.
6. Discover Bangkok Nightlife
There are also a lot of things to do at night in Bangkok. The nightlife in Bangkok is just as diverse as the rest of the city. Not just the loud backpacker bars on Khao San road and classy rooftop bars. The night markets are the best place to shop for souvenirs from your Bangkok trip. Something you can’t miss in Bangkok is a ladyboy show. Ladyboys are a big part of Thai culture. The “girls” are fun and charming and put on a very entertaining show. The locals love the hip cocktail bars and craft breweries in Downtown Bangkok. The nightclubs in Bangkok are big, wild, and play some of the best DJ’s in the world.
7. See a Bangkok Puppet Show
One of the best things to do in Bangkok is to see a puppet show. The Bangkok Traditional Puppet Show is a must-do cultural event. Puppeteering is an important part of traditional Thai culture. The dolls are beautifully decorated and operated by multiple people. The addition of a live orchestra really brings it to life.
8. Visit Wat Arun
Bangkok has many beautiful temples. Wat Aran, also known as Temple of the Dawn, is one of the best things to do in Bangkok. It is located right by the river, opposite to Wat Pho. Ferry boats can take you across to visit this colorful temple. It is also lovely when it is lit up at night.
9. Khao San Road
Khao San road is one of those infamous tourist spots in Bangkok. This used to be where locals went out, but now it is strictly a tourist affair. Khao San road is lined with bars playing loud music and advertising buckets and happy hour deals. This is also where you are likely to be invited to a “ping pong show.” Khao San gets crowded at night when everybody come out to drink and have a good time. It is not everyone’s cup of tea, but it is one of the things in Bangkok you need to experience once.

Next to night markets and the Chatuchak market, Bangkok has more great places to shop. The sleek and modern shopping malls are a popular way of shopping in Bangkok. These big malls sell luxury goods, gadgets and lifestyle items. They represent the best of contemporary Thailand.

Aside from street food, Bangkok also has many great upscale restaurants. Sra Bua is a Michelin starred restaurant that serves a modern take on Thai food.
